10. USA - Circuit of the Americas
This track is relatively straight forward but dose have a very technical sector 3 that can be difficult to master. Turns 3-9 can also be very tricky to get right, especially if you have a low downforce set up.
9. Australia - Albert park
This track is mostly straight forward but with 4 DRS zones it can be difficult for drivers to get overtaking moves done and stick. This track can also be difficult with its alternating shade and sun.
8. Spain - Catalunya
With lots of long sweeping turns and large elevation changes during the circuit, it becomes easy to see why this is one of the hardest tracks on the calendar
.
7. UK - Silverstone
Silverstone is one of the oldest circuits on the calendar and has lots of high speed corners and long sweeping turns. Turns 11-14 are especially difficult.
.
6. Japan - Susuka
With a very fast and flowing first sector combined with elevation changes and the infamous 130R, a flat out corner. This track is one of the hardest to race at for sure.
5. Monaco
Street tracks are known to be some of the harder tracks to deal with because of the sometimes not perfect surfaces and the wall that are usually very close to the track. Monaco is no exception being the slowest track with the most corners
.
4. Bahrain
Bahrain is the most technique focused track on the calendar with its many tight turns in combination with its long sweeping corners it feels like you just never get a break when driving this track
.
3. Qatar - Lusail International Circuit
This track is actually pretty easy and a nice track to drive. Its location however makes it very difficult with being the hottest track on the calendar we saw several drivers drop out of the race last year due to the temperatures.
2. China - Shanghai International Circuit
This track has one of the worst corner designs in all of F1. Combine that T1 with the fact that this track uses lots of tires and getting to the end on this track becomes very difficult.
1. Singapore
Being a long road course in some of the worst conditions imaginable leads to Singapore being the hardest track on the calendar. Imagine trying to drive 200 MPH in a sauna. Yeah not fun
Conclusion
Not all F1 tracks are made the same. Some are much more difficult than others. Luckily for us watching the races, usually the hardest tracks provide the best racing for us to watch (Except for Monaco).
Garret, as someone who is a bit intimidated by Formula 1 racing, I found your blog to give me great insight into what makes each track difficult. I especially enjoyed how your voice developed from number 10 to number 1. By number 3, 2, and 1 you do a great job of focusing the content on the reader. For example, I like when you said, "Imagine trying to drive 200MPH in a sauna." Great work!
